Starting This Month R abia Khatoon, our teaching assistant, has taken a leave of absence to study for her exams so we have hired Harshamanjari Nanda. "Harsha" means "joy" in Bengali and she has definitely added much joy to our classes. Harsha attended college with Sharmistha, our teacher who left last December to get married, and she comes highly recommended. We welcome her to the Uddami team.

We are very proud to present our very first deaf student webpages. Shampa, Atayur, Jiyaur and Rafiqul have been with Uddami a year now. They were our first deaf class and it was a real learning experience for all of us. We hope you enjoy their homepages.
Also be sure to look at our student photo pages to see more of our new students.

or if you need more space send us an email at: uddami@india.com O ften we wonder if we are actually achieving our goals, especially of preparing our students for a better future. Many of our students have come from a residential home run by a remarkable Frenchman who has been in Kolkata for over 10 years. We thought you might like to read a message he sent us from Dubai assuring us that we are indeed doing something good here...
dear alison and brian,
...i think about you a lot while looking for jobs for the boys as i can see that their computer knowledge can give them such a better chance to get better jobs, more interesting and with a better salary.
i want to thank you very much for what you are doing and i want to let you know that your efforts are not for nothing at all. and you have to know that if some of them get a chance here for a job dealing with computer that will be very much because of you .
i just feel that you have to know that you are very much part of their future...
see you soon.

Students Getting Jobs...
That is what it is all about here. We just found out that Thierry Darnaudet has arranged for Krishna Rao and Gopal Das (they live in the residential home that Thierry runs) to work as Graphics Designers in Dubai! We are thrilled at this opportunity for them and big thanks to Thierry for making it happen.
Also this month we are added two new tactices in our quest for jobs for Uddami students. On the local level we are compiling a list of major employers in Kolkata and will be visiting them with a list of students available for hire. Nationally we are searching through India specific job web sites for appropriate work in other cities - or perhaps places in Kolkata that we havent yet heard about. We are looking forward to offering employment to all of our students. If anyone out there has a need for our services, or knows of another business that could use clerical or data entry help please email us at uddami@india.com .
